ROBBIE ARNOTT

Robbie Arnott is the author of Limberlost, The Rain Heron and Flames. He's a two-time winner of The Age Book of the Year, and has also been awarded the Voss Literary Prize. He's been named a Sydney Morning Herald Best Young Novelist, and has twice been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary Award, as well as the Dylan Thomas Prize. He lives in Hobart with his wife and daughter.

gina chick

Gina Chick is a rewilding facilitator, adventurer, writer and speaker. Writing is in Gina Chick's genes. Her grandmother, Charmian Clift, was an author, essayist and Australia's first female columnist in the early 60's. Charmian married George Johnston (My Brother Jack) and they lived together on Hydra with Leonard Cohen and bohemian expats. Charmian's teenage indiscretion, an illegitimate daughter, was given up for adoption. Gina's mum, Suzanne Chick, who, after finally discovering her mother's identity at 48, wrote her own book, Searching For Charmian, which was shortlisted for the NBC Banjo Award. Gina was one of ten participants of the first series of Alone Australia, made by iTV and screened on SBS in 2023. After 67 days of unforgettable moments of searing vulnerability, Gina was the last person standing, and the second woman to win an Alone solo challenge.

RHETT DAVIS

Rhett Davis is the author of Arborescence, a novel about what trees might do if we weren’t careful. It was shortlisted for the Aurealis Award for Science Fiction and longlisted for the Indie Book Awards. His first novel, Hovering, was about angry cities. It won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for an Unpublished Manuscript and was shortlisted for the Readings New Australian Fiction Prize and the Aurealis Award for Science Fiction. Rhett has also been a manager, an academic, a business analyst, a bookseller, and a creative writing tutor. He lives, works and writes mostly on Wadawurrung country in Geelong.

TONI JORDAN

Toni Jordan has worked as a molecular biologist, quality control chemist, TAB operator and door-to-door aluminium siding salesperson. She is the author of the international bestseller Addition, which was longlisted for the Miles Franklin Award and has been adapted into a feature film. Her novel Nine Days was awarded Best Fiction at the 2012 Indie Awards and was named in Kirkus Review's top 10 Historical Novels of 2013; Our Tiny, Useless Hearts, was longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award; and her two Schnabel family novels, Dinner with the Schnabels and Prettier if She Smiled More, were critically acclaimed. Toni has been published widely in newspapers and magazines. She holds a Bachelor of Science in physiology and a PhD in Creative Arts and lives in Melbourne.

HANNAH KENT

Hannah Kent's first novel, the multi award winning international bestseller, Burial Rites, was translated into over 30 languages and is being adapted for film. Her second novel, The Good People was translated into 10 languages, nominated for numerous awards and is also being adapted for film. Devotion, her third novel, published in 2021, won Booktopia's Favourite Australian Book, and was shortlisted for multiple industry awards.  Her original feature film, Run Rabbit Run, was directed by Daina Reid and starred Sarah Snook.  

Hannah is also the co-founder of Kill Your Darlings, and has written for The New York Times, The Saturday Paper, The Guardian, the Age, the Sydney Morning Herald, Meanjin, Qantas Magazine and LitHub.  

She lives and works on Peramangk and Kaurna country.

SOFIE LAGUNA

Sofie Laguna has written four novels for adults which have won numerous literary awards including the Miles Franklin Award and the Margaret and Colin Roderick Award. In 2025 Sofie released her fifth novel for adults, The Underworld to critical acclaim. She has also written over twenty-five books for children, and in 2025 she released the picture book, The Last Egg, illustrated by Jess Racklyeft.

LOUISE MILLIGAN

Louise Milligan is a multi-award-winning investigative journalist for ABC TV's Four Corners, the Australian national broadcaster's flagship current affairs documentary program. Louise's first novel, Pheasants Nest, was published in 2024 to wide acclaim, and was shortlisted for the Best Debut Fiction, Indie Book Awards and the Best Crime Fiction, Danger Awards. She also is the author of two bestselling non-fiction books: Cardinal, The Rise and Fall of George Pell and Witness, An Investigation into the Brutal Cost of Seeking Justice.

Louise's journalism, particularly her coverage of historical institutional child abuse and the experience of women in the criminal justice system and parliament, has broken national and international news, sparked government inquiries and led to profound cultural change and law reform. Born in Ireland to an Irish mother and Scottish father, Louise moved to Australia as a child. She lives in Melbourne with her husband and two children. Shellybanks is her second novel.

MARK MUPOTSA-RUSSELL

Mark Mupotsa-Russell is a writer living on Wurundjeri Country in the Yarra Ranges. His debut novel, The Hitwoman's Guide to Reducing Household Debt, won the 2023 Affirm Press Mentorship Award. His latest book is The Wolf Who Cried Boy. Before writing novels he was a screenwriter, film reviewer, cocktail columnist, PR consultant and communications adviser in the suicide prevention sector. He lives among the trees with his art therapist superstar wife, hilarious son and a moodle majestically named 'Mufasa'.

J.P. Pomare

J.P. Pomare is the best selling author of seven novels, most recently Seventeen Years Later. He is also the author of a number of Audible Original crime thrillers. Several of J.P.'s novels have optioned for film and TV, with In The Clearing (The Clearing) already adapted as a mini series for Disney+ and Hulu. The Last Guests (Watching You) is currently under production for Stan Australia.

J.P.'s work has been published in a number of territories including the US, UK and Australia.

J.P. is a proud Māori (Ngāpuhi). He grew up in Aotearoa but currently resides with his family in Melbourne.

CHRISTIAN WHITE

Christian White is an Australian author and screenwriter whose credits include feature film Relic, Netflix series Clickbait and numerous other projects in the pipeline. His debut novel The Nowhere Child was one of Australia's bestselling debut novels ever, with rights sold in 17 international territories and a major screen deal. Christian's second book, The Wife and the Widow (2019), third book, Wild Place (2021), and fourth book, The Ledge (2024) were instant bestsellers. The Long Night (2025) is his fifth novel.
